Teaching Based Activities

One of my proudest achievements at Park was the creation of the Summer Business Academy.  This program served as a promotion and recruitment tool for the University as an outreach to urban core high school and first generation to college prospects.  The program was funded by outside contributions in order to provide scholarships so that these students could get the thought of a  business education on their personal agenda.

The attached PowerPoint presentation was awarded Best in the Midwest Region and presented at the ACBSP Conference in Chicago.  Several ACBSP member universities throughout the nation have adopted this program model for their institutions.

As a pilot project with another colleague in the School of Business we developed this tool to help in the facilitation of internship opportunities with business partners.  The PIVIP is a hybrid program designed to bridge the gap in the shortage of internships by matching firms with students.  Each internship opportunity can be custom tailored to meet the expectations of both the firm and the student.  In some cases the work may be conducted away from a physical location, such as working on a business plan or a marketing campaign.   The PIVIP can also accommodate onsite internships as desired.

In order to evaluate the performance of students across multiple platforms (online, home campus, campus centers), the School of Business formerly employed a case analysis method that was distributed to randomly selected sections of the Marketing Principles course (MK351).  As program coordinator for marketing I was directed to develop a case and a corresponding answer guide for this process.  Listed below are links to those documents.
