Biography
Prior to joining Park, I spent more than 20 years in marketing and finance, in positions with divisions of Merrill Lynch, Dean Witter Discover & Co., 20th Century-Fox Film Corporation, AMC Entertainment, Western Resources, Rockhurst University, Hallmark Cards, UMB Bank, and Sprint. I also served as an adjunct instructor in the marketing departments at Rockhurst University and Avila University.
During my years at Park I have served as Assistant Dean in the School of Business, Accreditation Coordinator, Interim Chair of Accounting, Finance, and Economics, and Program Coordinator for undergraduate courses in Marketing and Health Care Administration. I also served two terms as Vice President of the Faculty Senate and was elected President of the Faculty Senate for 2011-2012.
Throughout my career I have remained very active in the small business community, serving on the boards of several startups and workouts. I retain my professional ties with involvement in my own marketing research consulting firm. Not only involved in the Kansas City community; I am also concerned with international trade and have participated in three economic missions to Mexico. In that capacity I served as a consultant, helping Mexican firms identify target markets in the United States.
May 2016 marked my 10th anniversary as a member of the full time faculty in the School of Business where I was voted the most outstanding faculty member by the student body at Park University (J.L. Zwingle Award, May 2016), and I also received one of ten National Teaching Excellence Awards from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) in June 2016. My academic background includes a BS in Journalism from the University of Kansas, an MBA from Rockhurst University, and an MPA from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. I am nearing completion of my doctoral program at the KU School of Medicine in Health Policy and Management, where my area of specialization focuses on primary care and dementia among the members of the aging population.
In August 2016 I stepped down from the full time faculty to attend to my family in Texas. I will continue to teach a few courses online, as I explore full time academic appointments in the Dallas-Ft. Worth market. In June 2019 I joined the faculty in the College of Business at The University of Texas at Arlington for courses in marketing and management.
